Live Music at Camaradas El Barrio
Camaradas Live Music
Soon after opening our doors in 2004 it became clear that live music was going to become an important part Camaradas’ personality. What began as a small stage in the corner of the rear section has blossomed into a full stage featuring live acts from all over the city and world. More importantly, Camaradas’ live music program functions as an incubator for up and coming new bands.
On our stage bands are encouraged to experiment and explore their particular genres. It has been our pleasure to present Afro-Diasporic music from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Honduras, Puerto Rico, Panama, Jamaica, Haiti, Colombia and Peru. We also host bands in other genres, such as Salsa, Merengue, Rock, Latin Rock / Rock en Espanol, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Electronica and Alternative. On any given evening you may have the opportunity to see the next Sting or Hector Lavoe so be sure to check our calendar to view our entertainment schedule.
It is important to note, that Camaradas sees itself as part of a long tradition of music in el barrio. The Barrio has been home to Latin music greats, such as Tito Puente, Ray Barretto and Joe Cuba just to name a few. Its music scene has always been an integral part of its cultural landscape. Camaradas proudly stands on the shoulders of giants and we pay homage to their contribution by providing a home for musicians from the barrio and around the world.
